About TAPS
TAPS
Family Services began in 1994 as a parent support group located in
Oceanside and founded by Tony and Maryann Pallotto. TAPS began out of an
extreme personal hardship and it was through this hardship that Tony and
Maryann dedicated their lives to this work. The demand for their
assistance was so great that TAPS became an established non-profit
corporation in August 1996. Tony and Maryann have been married for 37
years and are parents of three sons, two of which were addicted to drugs
and alcohol (one son fully recovered and one son who died from a heroin
overdose at the age of 26). Both Tony and Maryann come from families of
drug and alcohol abuse. Tony’s parents died early deaths due to
complications related to alcoholism. Tony’s brother died from heroin
addiction and another brother is still battling addiction after 43
years. Maryann has one brother who unsuccessfully attempted suicide by
shooting himself in the head as a result of 42 years of addiction to
drugs and alcohol. He did extensive and permanent damage to himself and
as a result will require twenty-four hour care for
the rest of his life.
Tony and Maryann have clearly experienced the pain and difficulties
that come from drug and alcohol abuse. In light of these hardships, Tony
and Maryann knew that whey wanted to help parents who were struggling
with out-of-control teens. TAPS offers a path of hope, healing and
direction.
Last year’s DINNER WITH THE PROS raised enough money for TAPS to
provide services to over 1,000 families. With your support, TAPS can
continue to serve San Diego families who are in need at this very
moment.
