John Carney

While John Carney has consistently ranked among the NFL's most productive and accurate kickers since 1990, the 14-year veteran has taken his considerable skills to a new level since opening a second chapter of his career in New Orleans when he was signed as a free agent during training camp in 2001. Carney has converted 87.9 percent of his field goal attempts since coming to the Saints (58 of 66). In 2002, Carney turned in his most accurate full season since 1994 (31 of 35, .886) and set a club record with 130 points. His 31 field goals also tied a Saints single-season record (Morten Andersen, 1985). Carney already ranks in the club's career top five for scoring (243 points, tied for fifth) and field goals (58, third). Prior to coming to New Orleans, Carney spent 11 seasons with the San Diego Chargers. During his career, Carney has drilled 321 of 391 field goal attempts (.821), which ranks third in the NFL among active kickers with a minimum of 100 field goals (trailing K Mike Vanderjagt of the Colts, 137 of 161, .851 and K Olindo Mare of Miami, 159 of 191, .832). Carney's career totals of 1,331 points and 321 field goals also rank third among active kickers. He led the Chargers in scoring in 10 of 11 seasons (1990-96, 98-00). In addition to moving up the Saints' all-time kicking and scoring charts, Carney also holds the majority of San Diego's kicking records. All-state kicker for Cardinal Newman (West Palm Beach, Fla.), where he also served as punter...Avid surfer and enjoys golfing...A very caring and community-minded player, Carney was named Chargers NFL Man of the Year in 1995, '96, '98 and '99, an award he also shared in 1997...John and his wife, Holly, have two sons, Luke and John David, and daughter Keely Marie...Full name: John Michael Carney...Born April 20, 1964 in Hartford, Conn.

Phil Nevin

Phil Nevin attended Cal-State Fullerton on a football scholarship. He played both football and baseball for three years. Phil won the Golden Spikes award following Junior season and was first overall pick in the draft by the Houston Astros. He played twelve years in the major leagues with seven teams - seven of which were with the San Diego Padres. It was there that he was a three time MVP and played in the 2001 All-Star game. He and his wife Kristin have three kids - Koral 17, Tyler 10, and Kyle 6.

When Holly and John approached Phil for this event and told him their story he could not wait to help and hopefully have his hand in helping kids in the future in similar situations.

Tina Mickelson

Tina Mickelson has been a teaching professional since 1991 and has been a PGA Class "A" Member since 1994. She currently teaches out of the Santaluz Club in San Diego, CA. In addition to her teaching resume which includes students of all ages and skill levels, she has been involved in all aspects of public and media relations within the golf industry.

She's currently seen on The Golf Channel, involved with various programs including Drive, Chip, & Putt, Your Game Night, Academy Live, and The Golf Channel Academy, to name a few.

Her passion for teaching the game is what drives Tina to try to reach as large an audience as possible with her teaching philosophies and approach to the game. Television is a way for her to increase her audience, which provides an opportunity to help more people with their golf game. She has appeared numerous times on local news shows as their "golf expert", providing insight into various aspects of the golf industry as well as offered golf tips on a regular basis.

Tina has an unparalleled passion for the game (not surprising coming from a golf-intensive family) which has led her to new assignments as a speaker at a variety of events. In addition to specializing in women's issues and topics such as "Using Golf as a Business Tool", she has been successful with large corporate outings and special "corporate incentive rewards days" that involve golf clinics, general group lessons, playing a round of golf with certain groups, etc.

Whatever the event or topic, Tina Mickelson brings energy and expertise to every subject she covers.
